Olive Smith, a third year Ph.D. candidate, doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships, but her best friend does. That’s why, to convince her friend she’s dating, Olive impulsively kisses the first man she sees: Dr. Adam Carlsen, a young, hotshot professor known for his grumpy demeanor and brutal academic standards.
